Body Control Pilates - Certified Teachers

About This Class:

What is Body Control Pilates?

Body Control Pilates is an exercise method which relies on strengthening core postural muscles and developing body alignment. It avoids the muscle and ligament damage sometimes associated with other fitness regimes. The mat-work exercises need no special equipment, and are taught to small groups of people. This ensures that everyone gets individual instruction and can progress according to ability, and therefore effectively.

Who is Pilates for?

The method can work for everyone, regardless of fitness level. For example, anyone wishing to improve their total fitness, posture and appearance, or professional sportspersons using advanced conditioning programmes to enhance performance. First time exercisers might find it a gentle introduction to exercise, whilst the keen sportsman may find it a useful cross-training method and a means to stay injury free. Its controlled approach means that it gives much longer-term results, and is especially recommended by medics for those with back problems.

The Body Control Pilates Association

The BCPA is Europe's leading professional body for Pilates teachers and is widely seen as a quality standard for Pilates today. It works closely with many leading organisations in the areas of sport, medicine and fitness and aims to promote a wider understanding of Pilates and its benefits. It also continually supports its members in their professional development and to be a focal point for consumer. All BCPA members work to a laid-down Code of Practice governing teaching standards, class sizes, professional ethics and continuing education.
