How It Helps:
Stimulates healing by re-balancing the body's energy following the system of meridians according to ancient Chinese principles.
Traditional Acupuncture is an ancient system of healthcare that originated in China whose use can be traced back some 2000 years. It is based on the principle that good health is dependent on the balance of our body's motivating energy called Qi (pronounced 'chi'). Qi flows throughout the body but is concentrated in channels beneath the skin known as meridians. Along them, by the use of very fine needles, lie the points by which the acupuncturist regulates the energy flow to improve bodily health and stimulate healing.
Vivien is an experienced practitioner and has been in full time practice since 1995.
She graduated from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading where she now supervises students in tutorial sessions. Vivien has also undertaken further periods of study and clinical training in China. In her practice she uses both 5 element and Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques incorporating, where appropriate; moxibustion, cupping, Tui Na, Gua Sha and electroacupuncture in her treatments. She also practices some Japanese techniques including Shonishin, which is a very gentle treatment suitable for children.
Vivien is registered with the British Acupuncture Council which is the main governing body in the UK. She is a member of the Acupuncture Childbirth Team in London, a dedicated group of acupuncturists with expertise on obstetrics and fertility care. She is also a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network.
